Hello! I’m Margaret, and I’ve created this weight loss website and blog to help all of us who are finding weight loss to be one of the trickier things we’ve tried to do, and are confused as to why!

I’ve spent a lot of time seeking out all the latest research as to why there is now a global epidemic in obesity and effective ways to deal with it. Not because I have any desire to conform to the stereotypical body images found to be attractive in modern society, but rather that we are likely to live longer and healthier lives if not excessively overweight. And I’m old enough to remember what it was like before this happened – when virtually nobody had a weight problem.

It’s not logical that this should be so tricky!

And before anyone shoots me down in flames saying that all you have to do is eat a bit less and move a bit more – if it were that simple, there wouldn’t be a global epidemic!

And a steadily increasing global epidemic that no-one so far has managed to stop!

The majority of people giving advice about weight loss have rarely had first hand experience of obesity. Or if they have, they are usually young, likely to be male and have been overweight all or most of their lives. And their diet prior to weight loss was mostly fast food and takeaways…

I so don’t fit this profile at all!

Instead I’m:

  • Female and a loooong way over 40!

  • Loved fruit and liked most vegetables and fish as a child, but disliked meat and couldn’t tolerate more than the smallest amounts of dairy products

  • Did almost no formal sports but was very active

  • Have a lifelong interest in, and good understanding of nutrition, with a background in both allopathic and alternative medicine and mind-body healing techniques.

  • Eat healthy unprocessed and home-cooked food about 90% of the time

  • A creative cook seeking to maximise nutritional content whilst not compromising on taste

  • Was at the lowest end of “normal weight” for my height until I was 30 years old, weighing 98 pounds shortly after my 30th Birthday

  • Able to match the weight gain to times of stress in my life

  • Have already lost 10% of my body weight and have kept it off for 2 years to date

Gathered together on the website are the potential causes of weight gain, and the best ways to lose weight without “going on a diet” which turns out to be one of the worst things you can do for long term permanent weight loss.
